Intellagirl: Understanding = Communication

Update 06.05.08: Remooved the Veoh video, and replaced it with youtube-parts.

I had a great evening at the one day seminar in Clever Zebra - Second Life, where Sarah Robbins aka Intellagirl gave a speech on learning and communication. I've been following Sarah on her blog for more then a year and it was nice to finally get a chance to listen to one of her speeches.

I missed the first minutes having problems connecting to inworl sound, and forgive me for forgetting to unplug my mic - there will be some caughing along. I'm also practicing running the camera. It has been a while since the last recording, but upgrading my Camtasia yesterday had me going at this event.

What I love about this, as a new teacher, is that there is no way - for years - I will be in the position where I get to go on conferences for inspiration and motivation for developing skills and connecting to other teachers with similar interests. Thanks to technology like Camtasia, Second Life and internet in general, I get to go on conferences just about every night if I like to. In my first two years as a teacher I have probably been to more conferences than my senior colleagues have ever been offered. Does it make me smarter? Yes! Smarter than them? Who knows, but more reflective, more motivated and more engaged than if I didn't attend - that's for sure!
